Chintz is a vivid print running through the Rijksmuseum’s collection, and broader Dutch cultural heritage. It is where early modern examples reveal its origins as a luxury, globally traded cotton, prized for its saturated colours and exotic patterns. Today, new colourways echo this history of experimentation and exchange, reactivating chintz’s capacity for boldness while acknowledging it’s Indian artistic innovations preserved in the museum.
Each piece is hand-printed using the ancient art of block-printing on 100% OCS-certified organic cotton. The technique brings a unique warmth and rich color depth. The visible craftsmanship and irregularities make every item one of a kind.
